Israel To Release 50 Palestinian Women; Biden Approves of Another Two-Day Truce | Updates

According to The Times of Israel, the Israeli government has decided to prolong the interim ceasefire with Hamas in Gaza, and as part of that arrangement, 50 women inmates would be freed. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, made the statement on his social media network X.

“The Government has approved the inclusion of 50 female prisoners in the list of prisoners eligible to be released if a release of additional Israeli hostages is carried out,” he wrote.

Let’s examine the most recent changes: – According to The Times of Israel, the Israeli government decided on Monday to free 50 detainees in exchange for the release of over 20 more Israelis who have been held captive by the terrorist organization Hamas since October 7.

– The US and Qatar have acknowledged that the four-day ceasefire, which was scheduled to expire on Monday, has been extended by two days. This means that around ten more Israeli prisoners will be released each day.

– Following successful mediation by Qatar, US President Joe Biden on Monday hailed the extra two-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The US President said in an official statement, “I have remained deeply engaged over the last few days to ensure that this deal—brokered and sustained through extensive US mediation and diplomacy—can continue to deliver results.”

On the fourth day of the ceasefire, 11 Israeli captives were revealed to have been freed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Five families were represented among the eleven Israeli captives who were freed from Gaza.

– Three-year-old twins and their mother were among the eleven captives that Hamas freed on Monday. Emma and Yuli Alony Cunio, the twins, are from Kibbutz Nir. Their father David remains in custody, while their mother Sharon Aloni Cunio was freed along with the kids.
