Massive protests against the US and nuclear war are held in North Korea
On the 73rd anniversary of the start of the Korean War, North Korea organised large demonstrations in Pyongyang where protesters chanted chants promising a “war of revenge” to destroy the United States, according to official television.
According to the official news agency KCNA, some 120,000 students and workers participated in the protests that were conducted across the city on Sunday.
A stadium was full with protesters carrying signs that said, “The entire US mainland is within our shooting range” and “The imperialist US is the destroyer of peace,” according to images carried by state television.
The occasion was observed amid worries that Pyongyang might soon launch its second military spy satellite to increase surveillance of US military operations after its first effort, on May 31, failed.
In order to punish US imperialists, North Korea now had “the strongest absolute weapon,” according to KCNA, and “avengers on this land are burning with the indomitable will to revenge the enemy.”
Nuclear-armed In order to raise tensions with the South and its primary ally, the United States, North Korea has been conducting weapons tests using a variety of weaponry, including its largest intercontinental ballistic missile.
North Korea said that the US was moving strategic assets to the area and was “making desperate attempts to start a nuclear war” in a dispatch from its foreign ministry.
Due to the fact that their 1950–1953 combat concluded in a ceasefire rather than a treaty, North and South Korea are still formally at war.
