Six construction workers are killed in an overnight attack in Baluchistan by unidentified gunmen

Six construction workers suffered a terrible destiny at the hands of unidentified shooters in a sad event that occurred overnight in Pakistan’s unrest-ridden south-western region of Baluchistan, local police said on Saturday. The attackers started fire on a group of eight construction workers in Turbat, which is located around 606 kilometers south of Quetta, the province capital, according to police officer Hidayatullah Dashti. Tragically, just two of the employees made it through the trauma and are now seeking medical care, according to accounts in the media.

The brutal crime rocked the village of Turbat, where the targeted workers were working on a private construction project. As of right now, neither a person nor a group has admitted guilt for carrying out this horrible assault, leaving police with a puzzling conundrum to solve.

Baluchistan has struggled with a lengthy low-level insurgency led by the Baluchistan Liberation Army and numerous separatist organizations seeking autonomy from the Islamabad-based federal government. This occurrence throws a dark shadow over the province. Notably, Baluch separatist gangs have targeted people from Punjab on multiple times in the past, with workers from Sindh and Punjab suffering similar horrific assaults.

Violence in the province persists despite official claims that the insurgency has been put down, highlighting the ongoing difficulties the administration is facing in bringing peace and security to this unrest-ridden area. It is also important to keep in mind that the region is still vulnerable to the existence of Islamic terrorist groups, which adds to the complexity of Baluchistan’s overall security environment.
