Southern California: One fatality results from a plane crash shortly after takeoff

On Tuesday, a single-engine aircraft crashed in southern California, killing one person and injuring three others.

Around 2:45 pm, a Cessna 172 carrying four individuals took off from the French Valley Airport in Murrieta. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft crashed.


The little aircraft was reportedly discovered inverted in a commercial parking lot approximately 85 miles (135 kilometers) southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

According to information from the Riverside County Fire Department, one individual reportedly passed away there. The fire department said on Twitter that three other people were brought to hospitals, one with significant injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an investigation.
