US megachurch shooting: five-year-old son who entered with her critically injured, assailant dead

NEW DELHI: A lady opened fire during Sunday services at Joel Osteen’s megachurch in Texas, resulting in a shooting incident. The lady died as a consequence of the actions of two off-duty police officers, who also prevented worse damage. Between services, attendees fled as the church was evacuated.

The 5-year-old son, who was seriously wounded by gunshots, was with the mom as they entered the Houston church.A 57-year-old male was also hurt. The man’s injuries are stable, but the child’s condition is serious.
By moving quickly to neutralize the attacker, the off-duty policemen reduced the possibility of more fatalities. Chief of Police Troy Finner of the Houston Police Department said that despite the tragedy, things might have been worse.
The incident happened at the megachurch, which hosts thousands of worshipers each week, during a break between services. Pastor Joel Osteen stressed perseverance in the face of hardship while expressing his shock at the occurrence.
Gunshots were heard by witnesses just before the planned Spanish language service. Until the location was deemed secure by the police, attendees took sanctuary.
In the middle of the mayhem, Texas Governor Greg Abbott expressed his sympathies to the impacted parties and recognized the sacredness of houses of religion. Despite the fact that no explosives were discovered, emergency personnel, including a hazardous materials team, were called to the area.
