Earth Day 2024: See How This 20-Year-Old Entrepreneur From Kerala Is Encouraging Eco-Friendly Living

In 2021, when he was only 17 years old, Akash Akhilesh founded the Green Lover Store because he was very passionate about encouraging eco-friendly living and sustainability.

These goods, which range from cotton buds, organic bamboo toothbrushes, and bamboo bottles to recycled newspaper seed pencils and neem wooden combs, are easily obtainable, fashionable, and environmentally responsible, and they are designed to encourage people to make more environmentally friendly decisions.

Akash talks to News18 on April 22, Earth Day, about the significance of putting environmental responsibility first in corporate operations and how his company is democratizing sustainability.

What gave you the idea to start the Green Lover Store?

I have a great love for promoting sustainability and eco-friendly living, which is why I started Green Lover Store in 2021. My motivation to act came from seeing the environmental problems we face, particularly the effects of plastic pollution and deforestation. In order to enable people to make better decisions for the environment, I wanted to establish a company that provides easily affordable, fashionable, and environmentally responsible substitutes for commonplace items.

Why, in your opinion as a young entrepreneur, should individuals make the decision to live a sustainable and ecologically friendly life?

Taking care of the environment is crucial to ensuring that everyone has a healthier and more sustainable future. As a young company owner, I think it’s critical to give environmental responsibility first priority while doing business. We can lessen our carbon footprint, preserve natural resources, and save biodiversity when we make the decision to live sustainably. No matter how modest, every eco-friendly choice you make makes a difference and encourages others to follow suit and adopt a greener lifestyle.

Since your items are cheaply priced, what advice would you provide to those who believe that eco-friendly products are pricey?

We at the Green Lover Store are dedicated to enabling everyone to experience sustainability. We want to debunk the misconception that eco-friendly goods are always more costly. We can provide premium sustainable goods at reasonable pricing by streamlining our supply chain, ethically sourcing resources, and cutting expenses. Purchasing sustainable goods helps the environment and encourages a more thoughtful and ethical consumer culture.

Why should people cease using plastic items and why are your products the best alternatives?
