West Bengal: Secondary Exam Schedules Will Not Be the Same This Year

It was revealed on Thursday that the schedule for the West Bengal board’s second and upper secondary exams would be altered starting this year.

Two distinct notices were released by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) and the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE).

This year, the secondary and upper secondary exams will begin at 9.45 am and go until 1 pm.

The time was from 11.45 a.m. to 3 p.m. the previous year.

But neither the board nor the council have given a clear explanation for the time adjustment.

According to sources, the state Secretariat provided detailed instructions before the decision to alter the timetables was made.

The WBCHSE’s upper secondary examination is slated to begin on February 7 and run until February 29. Conversely, the WBBSE’s secondary examination is scheduled to begin on February 2 and run until February 12.

In light of previous years’ examination-related malpractice claims and test paper leaks, this year’s secondary board exams will be held under the vigilant observation of CCTV equipment.

The WBBSE said in a notice that maintaining CCTV video for every day of the test would be required of secondary examination venues and centers.

WBBSE Secretary Subrata Ghosh has instructed all examination venue supervisors and center secretaries to make sure that the count’s directives are properly followed, as stated in the notice. Additionally, the board has mandated that the video be kept in tact until the results of the test are made public.
