40% of UP’s population will live in cities in five years, predicts CM Yogi

According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh’s urban population would increase from 30% to 40% in the next five years.

He continued by saying that whereas 24% of people worldwide lived in cities and towns in 2017, that number has now increased to 30%.

This is the “new Uttar Pradesh” of the “new India,” one that strives toward prosperity while simultaneously protecting its cultural legacy. It protects young people’s livelihoods and honors people’s religious beliefs. He made these remarks during a late-night event here on Tuesday. “It improves the state’s security environment and is committed to advancing the state towards prosperity through new measures,” he said.

“The participation of all state citizens in this progress signifies the dedication to PM Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat.'” The goal of developing India should be shared by all Indians. Formerly, it was believed that only people were growing wiser, but the Chief Minister pointed out that the Prime Minister has also made cities “smart.”

At Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for 3,419 development projects worth Rs 11,000 crore, which are overseen by the Urban Development Department. The CM also announced the Urban Development Department’s recommendations after stopping by this display stand.

In addition, he acknowledged the recipients of many programs and noted that this was the first time the Urban Development Department had held a grand opening and foundation-laying ceremony for projects. According to him, three times as many projects as the Urban Development Department had funded seven years ago are being launched all at once today.

Three new municipal corporations are among the 112 new municipal organizations that have been constituted, according to the Chief Minister. Additionally, new urban panchayats and the Municipal Council have been formed, and their respective regions have been enlarged. He said, “Many initiatives, such as AMRUT Mission and Smart City, have been put into place and are significantly contributing to the attainment of the objectives of ease of living.”

“The Indian government is helping Uttar Pradesh on its way to become a state of smart cities. A total of 17 municipal corporations are being established as smart cities under the Smart City Mission—ten with help from the Central government and seven under the State Smart City Mission. According to Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the nation to link all municipal corporations to the Smart City Mission.

In order to maintain cleanliness in each ward without adding to expenses, the Chief Minister emphasized the need of setting up committees led by elected chairpersons and councillors. He urged taking part in door-to-door garbage collection campaigns and making contributions to solid waste management programs.

Before 2017, the Chief Minister bemoaned the inadequate availability of power. “We installed 16 lakh LED street lights across the state for free to address this,” he said. Nowadays, brilliant LED lights are used to light up every municipal area. Electricity usage and carbon emissions have decreased as a consequence of LED street lighting. The municipalities are actively supporting this project, helping to achieve the minimal carbon emission objectives in line with the Prime Minister’s vision and the Smart City mission,” the CM said.

He went on to say that even if cleanliness has improved, excellent work still has to be worked upon. He emphasized the need of developing plans for the next five years, making sure that cities are not flooded, maintaining well-maintained highways, and empowering urban areas to support themselves. For this reason, he proposed raising the income of urban entities.

Both the federal government and the state governments have accomplished important goals in the last seven years. More than Rs 3500 crore in urban development funds have been given to 15 lakh impoverished individuals in the state so far, while PM Awaas have been given to 56 lakh impoverished individuals. The Chief Minister said, “15 crore people are receiving free rations, 19 lakh street sellers are taking advantage of the PM SVANidhi initiative, three crore people have access to bathrooms, and residents of 762 municipal bodies are receiving government schemes without discrimination.

According to the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh is the only state in the nation to have won many accolades in various categories. Additionally, it is the first state in which six cities have started offering metro services. Ropeway services are set to begin in Varanasi, while Shahjahanpur is also hoping to host ropeway operations. Electric bus services are in high demand, and urban growth has quickly led to the expansion of this effort.

He said that in addition to the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme, Vandan Yojana, and Nagar Srijan Yojana, efforts have also been made to support women’s volunteer organizations under the Deendayal Upadhyay National Urban Livelihood Scheme.

Everyone in the Ayodhya Pran-Pratishtha program has appreciated the city’s development efforts. The Urban Development Department has already started working in preparation for the Mahakumbh in 2025 and the next Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj next year. Yogi said, “The department was crucial to the G-20’s smooth operation during India’s presidency.

According to him, urban development is giving the state a unique image with its innovative practices, and it has the potential to serve as a national example. He emphasized that the Rs 11,000 crore project is a big step toward the Prime Minister’s goal of an advanced India. Every local government should aim for self-sufficiency and the realization of developed India’s and Uttar Pradesh’s easy-living standards.

In order to attain the objectives of a developed India, he said that the Modi administration will need one additional term in 2024.
