AIMIM Under Owaisi Wants To Run For Five Lok Sabha Seats In Maharashtra

According to a party leader, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) intends to run for five of Maharashtra’s 48 Lok Sabha seats in the next general elections.

Dr. Abdul Gaffar Quadri, the working president of AIMIM Maharashtra, said during a news conference on Sunday in Bhiwandi town that the party intends to field candidates in the state’s North Mumbai, Dhule, Nanded, Bhiwandi, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar seats.

According to him, surveys are being conducted in these seats by the party headed by Asaduddin Owaisi in order to develop a successful election plan.

Attacking the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the opposition Congress, Quadri said that they saw the AIMIM as “untouchables” and called them secular parties.

He questioned the way the “so called” secular parties were treating AIMIM, which is not a member of the opposition INDIA coalition.

Additionally, he attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his recent break from the opposition INDIA bloc and the “Mahagathbandhan,” a grand coalition that included the RJD, the Congress, and Left parties, and his formation of a new government with the BJP, which he had left less than 18 months before.

According to the AIMIM head, all was “not well” in the opposition INDIA coalition.

In addition, Quadri accused Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, of pushing the state closer to a Bihar-like state.

A BJP MLA is accused of firing at a Shiv Sena leader inside a local police station. He inquired whether a similar action would be done against him. He was referring to the destruction of minority community members’ homes in the Mira-Bhayander region of Thane district after recent violence there.

Late Friday night, inside the cabin of the senior inspector of the Hill Line police station, BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad reportedly fired six shots at Mahesh Gaikwad, the head of the Kalyan Shiv Sena, injuring him as well as his colleague Rahul Patil, according to prior reports.

In this case, the three-time MLA for Kalyan East is accused of many offenses, including attempted murder.
