Alwar guy is seen on video praying at a shrine before robbing donations
A guy from Alwar, Rajasthan, was seen on camera entering a temple, praying, and then taking money and other valuables. Gopesh Sharma, 37, has been identified as the guy, and it is said that he only targets temples.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Sharma was seen on camera visiting a temple in the Adarsh Nagar neighborhood of Alwar, performing prayers and then stealing money out of the contribution box. He smashed the lock on the temple and took other things, including umbrellas, silver jewelry, and money, from the contribution box.
In a same instance, a guy was seen on CCTV taking goods from a different temple in Friends Colony, Alwar, after praying.
Gopesh Sharma was taken into custody by the police when they recognized him from the CCTV footage of the heist, which went viral. He admitted during interrogation that he had stolen identical items from many temples.
Subsequently, the police discovered that Gopesh Sharma targets exclusively temples. He would inspect the temples and then break in to take the valuables after the priest had departed for the evening.
His previous records are already being looked for by the police, and it’s likely that more occurrences may come to light as they do their investigation.
