AMU Center in Bihar: Kishanganj Cong MP Demands Funds in Meeting with Union Education Minister

Congressman Mohammad Jawed of Kishanganj, Bihar, met with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday and urged that the government provide funding for the construction of an Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) center in his district.

He wrote a letter requesting that the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) approved teaching and non-teaching positions be distributed.

“I would like to attract your consideration to the AMU center in Kishanganj. This topic has been on my radar for the last four years. I have brought it up countless times using a variety of techniques on various platforms, including letters, a number of questions during question hour, and during zero hour.

“I have been sending letters to the finance and education ministries on a regular basis. None, however, has yet to show any fruitful outcomes on the part of the administration. The Aligarh Muslim University wrote to your government about 29 teaching positions and 19 non-teaching positions at the AMU Center in Kishanganj, which were approved by the UGC.

Additionally, the institution has asked for Rs 352.75 billion to build infrastructure at the Kishanganj AMU center.

“I kindly request you to look into the matter personally and consider the two requests for the Kishanganj center,” he added. “These requests include allocating UGC-approved teaching and non-teaching positions for the AMU Kishanganj center as well as releasing the remaining allocated funds of Rs 126.82 crore.”

The Lok Sabha MP has been requesting that the Center release money that was given by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) headed by the Congress in 2013-2014 for the establishment of an AMU center in Kishanganj.
