An increase in the number of renegade Congress politicians joining the Rajasthan BJP

The Congress in the state suffered a twin blow with two weeks to go before the Rajasthan Assembly elections when former Congress minister Ram Gopal Bairwa, former MLA Asoka Tanwar, and numerous other figures joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

At the party headquarters in Jaipur, the new leaders were introduced in front of Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, a member of the Lok Sabha, and CP Joshi, the president of the Rajasthan BJP.

Joshi greeted the newly elected leaders of the party and stated, “It appears that Jhotwara will become ‘Congress-Mukt.’” I would want to thank each and every one of you for having trust in the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A Jaipur suburb, Jhotwara is a Legislative Assembly seat.

“Gopal Bairwa, a prominent Dalit leader in the Congress, joined the BJP today. Asoka Tanwar, a former MLA, has also joined the group. They’re all welcome here. The chief of the BJP in CP Joshi State, Chavi Rajawat, is also welcomed into the party. She is a well-known sarpanch.

Following reports of a minor’s rape from Dausa, the BJP also attacked the Congress at a news conference.

“We strongly denounce this act, and the culprit ought to face severe consequences. Why are there more and more of these tragedies happening every five years? Criminals succeed in committing these types of crimes when the administration and government turn a blind eye to them, according to CP Joshi.

The act had provoked widespread outcry before. Images from Dausa seemed to show a sizable crowd of protesters outside the Rahuwas police station in the Lalsot neighborhood.

The kind of event that has surfaced, in which a four-year-old Dalit child was sexually assaulted by a sub-inspector of police, and which is not the first of its like in Rajasthan, involves a guardian who has become predatory. BJP spokesman Shehzad Poonawalla claimed, “Police teachers in Rajasthan are routinely carrying out such incidents in government schools.”

On November 25, Rajasthan will hold elections; the results will be tallied on December 3 together with the results of four other state assembly elections.

In the 200-member legislature, the Congress won 99 seats and the BJP 73 in the 2018 Rajasthan assembly elections.
