An Odishan man who was “mentally challenged” killed a sexagenarian by stabbing her

At Jamadhar village, which is under the Jajpur Sadar police limits in the Jajpur district, an old man is said to have been hacked to death by a mentally unstable teenager on Sunday. This is a horrible event. The deceased has been identified as Swapneswarpur village resident Kalandi Mallick, 62. The offender, named as Surendra Behera of Jamadhar village, has been taken into custody by the police.

Surendra, a mentally impaired 32-year-old, was reportedly seen around his hamlet on Friday while holding a helicopter. On Saturday morning, when Kalandi was on his way back to Swapneswarpur via Jamadhar village to meet with the local sarpanch Badal Khuntia, Surendra struck him on the neck in front of his home. Consequently, Kalandi collapsed, gushing blood, and passed away instantly.

After receiving information from residents, a Jajpur Sadar police station squad hurried to the scene and apprehended Surendra along with the crime’s helicopter. After the corpse was taken by police, an autopsy was performed at the district headquarters hospital. A murder case has been filed and an investigation has started. After being sent to the local court, the accused was subsequently placed under judicial custody again.
