Be a leader in education and business; assist community members in entering the mainstream: To Tribes, The President

On Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu stated tribal persons should work to advance in life by developing strong social, economic, and educational relationships, as well as support their fellow tribal members in assimilating into society at large.

During a discussion with members of Maharashtra’s Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) at the Raj Bhavan, Murmu, the nation’s first tribal president, said this.

She recalled the lack of suitable transportation to her school and the absence of bookbags throughout her time in school.

“In order to shield myself from the rain while I was at school, I used to cover my head with a handkerchief. Every step was difficult, but I conquered them to become a teacher, a governor, and now the president of the nation, she stated.

Murmu exhorted tribal people to continue their studies beyond high school without having any inferiority complexes.

“Tribals should develop their economies, societies, and educational systems. They need to have more senior jobs and assist their tribal brethren in integrating into society, he added.

At the event were Tribal Development Minister Vijaykumar Gavit, State Governor Ramesh Bais, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
