BJP files a complaint with ECI about the submission of applications for a grant of Rs 1,500

One of the ten promises the Congress made at the time of the 2022 Assembly elections was the provision of Rs 1,500 monthly aid to women. The BJP has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) about the completion of forms for this purpose.

Opposition Leader Jai Ram Thakur said today that the BJP has protested to the ECI over the Congress government’s attempt to win over votes by having forms filled out for women to get a subsidy of Rs 1,500 per month. “We brought up the matter with the ECI because we were concerned that the Congress would use this ploy to get votes once again. We’re waiting for the ECI to respond to our complaint,” he said.

He said that filling up papers for women to get a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500 was happening in the offices of the welfare officer, the BDO, and panchayats—a blatant disregard for the model code of conduct. “The Congress courted the electorate in just this way before to the 2022 Assembly elections. We have asked the ECI to halt this procedure right now,” he said.

According to Thakur, before the polls were declared, the administration ought to have moved the Secretary (Home) and the Secretary (GAD), who were stationed in the Chief Minister’s office. “The ECI has ordered their transfer because the government failed to do so,” he said.
