Breakthrough in the Bengaluru bomb case: the NIA apprehends two major suspects from Kolkata, including the mastermind

According to sources, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained two suspects in the Rameshwaram Cafe bombing case in Bengaluru on Friday, including the mastermind.

An NIA team reportedly tracked down and captured Adbul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa and Mussavir Hussain Shazib at their hiding place close to Kolkata.

According to the authorities, Taahaa was the brains behind the preparation and execution of the bomb, while Shazib was the one who planted the improvised explosive device (IED) at the café.

“In the morning hours of April 12, 2024, the NIA was successful in tracing the absconding accused near Kolkata, where they were hiding under false identities,” according to an official.

The source also said that the NIA, national intelligence agencies, and the state police departments of West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala collaborated and coordinated their efforts to assist this pursuit.

A reward of Rs 10 lakh per person for information that results in the apprehension of these two suspects was offered by the NIA last month.

On March 1, an IED explosion shook the café on ITPL Road in Brookefield, Bengaluru.

On March 3, the NIA took over the investigation.
