BRS in Telangana Is The BJP’s “B Team,” According To Congressman Kharge

Parties from all corners of the political spectrum lobbied for the Women’s Reservation Bill’s approval in an all-party conference held in advance of the Parliament’s Special Session.

A five-day Special Session of Parliament has been scheduled by the Narendra Modi administration and will begin on Monday. The session’s agenda is cloaked in mystery.

The parties that supported the Women’s Reservation Bill ranged from the opposition Congress to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) section that sided with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Additionally, after the discussion, NCP MP Praful Patel announced that the session will take place in the New Parliament Complex on Tuesday, the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, a Hindu holiday honoring Lord Ganesh that is particularly significant in Maharashtra, where NCP is largely centered.

“We request that the government enact the women’s reservation law during this session of Parliament…If introduced in Parliament, we are optimistic that the women’s reservation measure would be approved unanimously. On the auspicious date of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 19, the Parliament will move to a new structure, according to Patel, as reported by PTI.

All parties asked that the measure be passed in the current session, according to quotes from Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury after the conference.

The Rajya Sabha first heard the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2008, and it was approved in 2010. There was, however, no more development on the measure. According to PLS Legislative Research, the measure proposed to allocate one-third of all seats in the state legislatures and the Lok Sabha to women.

Due to rumors and uncertainties around the schedule for the Special Session of Parliament, the Women’s Reservation Bill has recently entered the political conversation. According to rumors, the Modi administration may introduce a significant legislative or policy agenda during the session, such as changing the country’s name to Bharat (instead of both Bharat and India as it is today) or enacting the universal civil code (UCC). The administration might possibly advocate for “one nation, one election” during the session, a rumor that was further fueled by the creation of a committee soon after the session was announced.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC), at an all-party meeting called by the government on Sunday, made a crucial suggestion, adding to the anticipation as the five-day Parliament session draws near. The TMC proposed designating a day just for debating “people’s issues,” and during the pre-session meeting held only one day before the start of Parliament, several opposition parties supported this idea.

In order to address urgent issues including unemployment and the growing cost of living, the TMC suggested devoting one of the three planned government business days. The party also suggested having debates about important issues including the status of the economy and outstanding payments to states.

While the TMC’s recommendations received backing from other opposition parties, the government apparently did not respond right away.

BJD MP Pinaki Misra looks forward to the start of a new age as Parliament prepares to relocate to its new facilities. She emphasizes the chance it gives to advance women’s reservation, a subject that has long been strongly supported by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Binoy Viswam, a member of the CPI, attacked the Centre for their inconsistent portrayal of the current Parliamentary session. He underlined how crucial it is to provide members the freedom to use the zero-hour efficiently. Viswam further emphasized that the approval of the Women Reservation Bill had the backing of all parties.

Following the discussion, Congress leader Chowdhury was quoted by the PTI as stating that the administration had told them that the Parliamentary session was in normal session.

“Only the government is aware of its purpose. According to PTI, Chowdhury said that his party brought up concerns including the increase in prices, unemployment, and the state of the border with China at the meeting. “It may surprise everyone with some new agenda,” he added.

However, the majority of the parties, including the BJD and BRS, concentrated on the Women’s Reservation Bill at the all-party conference.

Floor leaders of the opposition group INDIA will gather on Monday at 10 a.m. in the office of Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament House to plan the strategy for the Floor of the House during the extraordinary session of the parliament, according to ANI.

The agenda for the meeting had been circulated, according to a statement made by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi after the meeting. Notably, the eight measures that will be considered during this Special Session will include the four that are previously scheduled for discussion.

“The government has kept the agenda for the upcoming Parliament Special Session under wraps, while opposition parties, along with RLP and LJP, unitedly pressed for the reinstatement of two suspended MPs, including myself and Raghav Chadha from Rajya Sabha,” said AAP leader Sanjay Azad.

The government was represented at the meeting by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Deputy Leader of the House in the Lok Sabha, and Union Minister Piyush Goyal. Among the attendees were also Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda, DMK’s Kanimozhi, TDP’s Ram Mohan Naidu, TMC’s Derek O’Brien, AAP’s Sanjay Singh, BJD’s Sasmit Patra, BRS’ K Keshava Rao, YSR Congress Party’s V Vijayasai Reddy, RJD’s Manoj Jha, JD(U)’s Anil Hegde, and SP’s Ram Gopal Yadav among others.
