Case of Vigilance, Former FM Manpreet Badal criticizes CM Mann and instructs him to “do whatever you want”

Former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday, saying him he could file whatever charge he wanted against him despite being under investigation by the vigilance agency in a land-related issue.

After receiving a complaint from former MLA Sarup Chand Singla alleging irregularities in the acquisition of a house in a desirable Bathinda location, the state vigilance bureau summoned Badal and recently questioned him. In Sangrur earlier that day, CM Mann said that Badal, who introduced him to politics, had been arrested for his “misdeeds.”

“You know I don’t spare anybody when a FIR is also filed against Manpreet Badal. Okay, Badal got me into politics,” Mann remarked, adding that he still adheres to his beliefs.

Speaking to a crowd at a state-level event to commemorate Shaheed Udham Singh’s martyrdom day, Mann said that Badal had made a commitment to serve the state in Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s home town but had forgotten it before joining the Congress and then the BJP.

In response to Mann’s comments, Badal accused him of inventing the claim in order to obtain cheap notoriety in a video message. Badal said Mann had abandoned the values of his former party, the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP), whereas he had always adhered to them.

When Mann joined the PPP in 2011, he had previously worked closely with Badal. Mann was called out by Badal for traveling the nation in a cavalcade, a helicopter, and airplanes like a’mughliya shehzada’ (Mughal price!).

“Cowards threaten,” Badal said. You made the wrong choice in a partner, and I don’t fear your threats. Badal also informed the chief minister that he is in charge of the police and the vigilance department and that he is free to file a complaint against him if he so chooses. “I don’t feel afraid. Whatever you want to do, do it.

Following a complaint made by former MLA Sarup Chand Singla, who claimed that the former FM had misused his position as a minister by changing commercial properties into a residential plot for himself, Badal is now the subject of a vigilance investigation.
