Chandigarh: The woman’s murder is still unsolved two days later

The UT police are still at a loss for progress in the murder investigation, two days after a woman’s nude corpse was discovered in the Sector 54 woodland.

The victim, who was around 55 years old, vanished on February 27. Her spouse, a Phase V inhabitant, had also reported her missing to the Mohali police.

Her corpse was found in the Chandigarh woodland region a day later, and the police were notified of its discovery.

Investigative teams were aggressively following leads and interrogating suspects in the case, according to a senior police officer.

Sources said that although the autopsy report was still pending, preliminary results indicated the woman had not been sexually abused, suggesting that there may have been another reason for the murder.

There are similarities between the occurrence and an unresolved case that was reported to the Maloya police station two years ago. Nonetheless, the authorities maintain that the two incidents are separate.

In contrast to the current investigations that center on other causes, the police said that sexual assault was established as the motive in the Maloya case.

A 40-year-old lady was discovered slain in Maloya on January 12, 2022. Her corpse was found in bushes near her home, nude save for a pair of socks shoved in her mouth. The lady, a mother of three, suffered from sexual assault. Both the victim’s relatives and the police are still puzzled by the situation.

DNA testing revealed that the same culprit was involved in both this case and the 2010 rape and murder of a 22-year-old MBA student in Sector 38 (West).
