CM Rangasamy: Puducherry Government Is Sincerely Working For People’s Welfare Without Raising Taxes

N Rangasamy, the chief minister of Puducherry, has introduced a number of welfare programs, including a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 for women and a subsidy for LPG cylinders, which would cost the Union Territory’s exchequer a total of Rs 225 crore annually.

The Chief Minister said the programs introduced by the NDA administration led by him are for enhancing the well-being of the people while presiding over a gathering here on Monday organized by the Departments of Civil Supplies and Social Welfare to reveal four projects.

 

The programs’ initiator, Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, lauded the Puducherry government’s efforts to guarantee that the welfare of the populace was advanced without difficulty.

 

The programs cover things like providing a monthly LPG cylinder subsidy of Rs 150 to Below Poverty Line families and Rs 300 to other families, awarding a girl child a grant of Rs 50,000 if she was born on or after March 17 of this year, providing a woman member with monthly support of Rs 1,000, and paying out benefits under insurance plans for those who suffer accidents.

 

“The government never used taxation as a means of raising money for these programmes. With the assistance of the central government, we are supporting the initiatives, he said.

 

The Chief Minister said that measures had already been made to fill almost 5,000 open positions in government agencies. “Candidaten would be hired very soon to fill open constable positions in the Police department.”

 

The Center provided sufficient financial assistance to the administration he led. The prime minister’s vision of making Puducherry the finest Union Territory in the areas of commerce, education, spirituality, and tourism will be realized, he said.

 

He expressed confidence that businesses will soon establish themselves on a 750-acre location in Sedarapet thanks to private sector investment. Participants at the event were Speaker R. Selvam, Ministers A. Namassivayam, Sai J. Saravanan Kumar, Theni C. Djeacoumar, K. Lakshminarayanan, and S. Chandira Priyanga, as well as lawmakers.
