Congress and BJP want BRS votes in Telangana

The BJP and the governing Congress are vying to win over the pink party’s support, while the BRS is struggling to survive. According to both parties, they can obtain double-digit seats in the state if they can successfully win over BRS supporters.

Based on the vote share in the most recent assembly elections, the BJP and Congress parties are formulating plans to sway BRS votes in their favor. The BRS party was able to obtain 46.9 percent in the 2018 assembly elections; however, in the 2023 elections, BRS lost 10.52 percent of the vote. Votes went to the Congress in the majority of the constituencies and to the BJP in a small number of seats.

The Congress party received 28.4% of the vote in the 2018 assembly elections; in the 2023 elections, that number grew to 39.4%, representing a rise of 10.97 percent. In the 2023 elections, the BJP received 13.9% of the total votes cast.

Political analysts believe that because of the altered political environment, the BRS party would not get as many votes as it did in the assembly elections. The same is being shown by other political polls as well. As a result, both sides are developing appropriate plans.

The leaders who came from the BRS were handed tickets by the BJP and the Congress. Political specialists analyzed this in order to draw the BRS vote. They said that both parties contacted the BRS leaders in an attempt to get the BRS votes, even though there are qualified individuals to run.

It is important to note that seven out of the seventeen tickets that the BJP is offering to leaders who recently joined the BRS are to leaders who joined the party after the assembly elections: Godam Nagesh, Potuganti Bharat, Boora Narsaiah Goud, Seetharam Naik, Arrori Ramesh, BB Patil, and Shanampudi Saidi Reddy.

Similarly, Patnam Suneetha Mahender Reddy, Gaddam Ranjith Reddy, Danam Nagender, and Kadiyam Kavya—four newly recruited leaders—were fielded by the Congress. It’s interesting to note that the Congress party, which has a low profile in the GHMC, selected the BRS candidates. It declared MLA Danam Nagender for Secunderabad and Patnam Suneetha Mahender Reddy as candidates for Malkajgiri.
