“Congress examines Hindus and Hinduism”: G Kishan Reddy of the BJP responds to Salman Khurshid about his comment about the Ram Temple

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday took aim at Congress leader Salman Khurshid for his remarks regarding the invitation given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2019, stating that the Congress has a history of “looking at Hindus” and “Hinduism with complete disdain” and that it “looks at people ashamed” of the nation’s civilizational past.

Khurshid said on Thursday that the Ram temple’s dedication on January 22 is being turned into a “just one party” event.

Asking if God was now exclusive to one party, the senior Congress politician and former Union minister took another jab at the governing party in both the Centre and Uttar Pradesh.

“The Congress has a known history of being ashamed of its civilisational past and looks at Hindus and Hinduism with complete disdain,” Reddy wrote on X on Thursday in response to Khurshid’s comment.

Reddy retaliated against the Congress in a series of postings by reminding them that Sardar Patel sought to rebuild the Somnath Temple, just as Mahatma Gandhi had requested in November 1947. The leader of the BJP in Telangana said, “Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru vehemently opposed the move.”

In May 1951, he (Nehru) addressed many letters to President Rajendra Prasad, he said, to stop Gandhiji from taking part in the Somnath temple’s “prana pratishta.”

“President Rajendra Prasad called it reckless when he sought to bring in water and branches from other nations to dedicate the shrine. Pt Nehru called it imaginary and instructed embassies not to grant such demands in memos to the Foreign Secretary and others. Furthermore, Lord Rama is opposed by the DMK, the Congress’ anti-Sanatana Dharma allies in Tamil Nadu,” the Telangana president of the BJP wrote on X.

The BJP speaker also took aim at the Congress party’s alliance within the INDIA bloc, claiming that on January 24, 1971, during a rally in Salem, Tamil Nadu, DMK members “then burned it” after striking an image of Lord Ram with “slippers.”

He also claimed that the then-Congress administration intended to “dismantle the Ram Setu to build the Sethusamudram shipping canal project” in an affidavit filed with the Supreme Court in September 2007.

“Mythological texts, which formed an important part of ancient Indian literature, cannot be said to be historical records to incontrovertibly prove the existence of the characters or the occurrence of the event,” said an affidavit submitted before the SC, according to Reddy’s post.

“What is Lord Ram?,” said M Karunanidhi, the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Which engineering school did he go to get his degree as a civil engineer? This so-called bridge was constructed when? Is this supported by any evidence? The BJP politician continued to post from his X account.

Additionally, he urged the Ram Janma Bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra to maintain a safe distance from “anti-Sanatana Dharma forces” in light of their “past record.”

“Is the invitation (for the consecration of the Ram Temple) going to just one party?” Khurshid had earlier asked in an interview with ANI. Regarding who would and would not reach, I am unable to say. So is God now exclusive to one side? Everyone should be included in the invitation. It’s being turned into a one-party program. Is this a software for parties or is it exclusive to one person? Everyone should have received an invitation.

A official invitation to the January 22, 2021, consecration ceremony of the magnificent Ram temple in Ayodhya was sent to Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday.

Under the Trust’s direction, the temple’s construction has been moving along steadily. The temple’s sanctum sanctorum will house the idol of Ram Lalla.

On August 5, 2020, PM Modi laid the cornerstone for the building of the Ram Temple.
