Congress Leader Sandeep Dikshit On the Centre’s Ordinance Row: “Opposing Delhi Services Bill Is Wrong”

Sandeep Dikshit, a leader in the Congress, has once again said that he supports the Delhi Services Bill and that it is incorrect to oppose it. A few days after the law was approved by the Lok Sabha, he expressed a conflicting opinion on the subject contrasted to that of his party.

According to Sandeep Dikshit, who spoke to the media, “The government has a majority in the Lok Sabha, thus it was verified that this measure would be approved there. Though the government doesn’t have a majority in the Rajya Sabha, if any other parties support this measure, then, just like in the Lok Sabha, it would be carried…I think it’s wrong to oppose this measure,” an NDTV article said.

Amit Shah, the union home minister, will introduce the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, to the Rajya Sabha on Monday. On August 3, after a walkout by members of the INDIA group, the measure was approved by voice vote in the Lok Sabha.

According to reports, Sandeep Dikshit suggested that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) should focus on its own problems before considering attacking others. Who is Aam Aadmi Party to blame any party when they are stuck themselves, he said. Even worse, they are unaware of whether their important party leaders would be incarcerated or not. They need to be concerned with themselves. Just for this measure, the Congress party is on their side.

In addition, Dikshit allegedly remarked, “The way Arvind Kejriwal has fooled the people of Delhi, he is now fooling members of the alliance and the entire country.”

Delhi In order to stop the Rajya Sabha from approving the Delhi Services Bill, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been requesting assistance from opposition parties all around the nation. The federal government introduced the law on the transfer and postings of officials in Delhi in May of this year, defying the Supreme Court’s ruling. To establish control over the transfers and postings of Group-A officials in Delhi, the May 19 ordinance was enacted.

Before the Supreme Court’s decision on May 11, all Delhi government personnel were subject to the Lieutenant Governor’s executive supervision when it came to transfers and postings.

The Congress has previously made it clear that they would oppose the Center’s ordinance on administrative services in Delhi if a measure were to be filed in the Parliament to replace it.

This week, the Bill will be discussed in both Houses of Parliament.
