Diversions in traffic at IKEA Hyderabad starting on March 22

Traffic diversion on all roadways leading to IKEA Rotary will be tested by Cyberabad traffic police starting on March 22 in an attempt to improve smooth traffic flow.

As of right now, commuters leaving Cyber Towers are unable to do a U-turn. “With this experiment, there might be a free flow of traffic,” said D Joel Davis, Joint Commissioner (Traffic), of Cyberabad. “They will have to go till Biodiversity to take a U-turn.”

“We have also reduced the size of the IKEA rotary by approximately 12-15 feet for the ease of commuters,” Davis said, claiming that the diversions are a test.

Beginning on March 22, commuters heading toward Cyber Towers from Biodiversity should go via the IKEA underpass lane. Travelers heading to the Cable Bridge should turn right at the roundabout and pass through the circular in an anticlockwise fashion. Travelers on this route also have the option of doing a U-turn at the rotary.

Travelers heading from Cyber Towers to IKEA Rotary have the option to do a U-turn at the rotary and turn left at no cost to proceed in the direction of the Cable Bridge. Travelers heading to the Biodiversity should go via the route beneath the IKEA underpass.

Additionally, drivers heading towards Biodiversity from Meenakshi Junction should proceed right through the IKEA roundabout and make the first possible U-turn at C-Gate.

Davis said, “We will consider making these changes permanent if these diversions work in ensuring a seamless traffic flow.”
