Eknath Shinde Responds To Priyanka Chaturvedi’s Dewaar Dialogue, Which Is Designed To Poke Maharashtra CM Iginites Row

Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi said on Wednesday that Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Shinde should have the words “my father is a traitor” inscribed on his forehead. Shrikant, the son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is a serving member of parliament and the Shiv Sena candidate from the Kalyan Lok Sabha seat, which is close to Mumbai.

Chaturvedi made a reference to the 1975 movie “Deewar” while speaking at a campaign rally for Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Sanjay Dina Patil in the Ghatkopar neighborhood of Mumbai North East.

“There was a Hindi movie where the boy had the words “My father is a thief” inscribed on his hand. Similarly, Shrikant Shinde’s forehead needs to have the words “mera baap gaddar hai,” which means “my father is a traitor.”

Eknath Shinde broke away from the Shiv Sena in June 2022, overthrowing the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government and going on to become chief minister himself by forming an alliance with the BJP.

IN REACTION TO CHATURVEDI’S STATEMENT, CM EKNATH SHINDE
In response to the Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders’ “Gaddar” remark directed at him, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “The words used for me are applied to them.” 2019 saw them give up on Balasaheb Thackeray’s philosophy. They marketed their father’s philosophy. The people will never forgive them for the sin they committed. They deceived the people of Maharashtra and their friends in 2019.

He went on, “Shiv Sena and the BJP had the same philosophy when we ran for office together. Voting was motivated by the belief that there would be an alliance government. But they chose Sharad Pawar and the Congress out of avarice for the Chief Minister position. This is a betrayal.I don’t speak in the same language as them. I wasn’t taught it by Anand Dighe or Balasaheb Thackeray.

REACTIONS TO THE COMMENT “GADDAR”
Shiv Sena spokesman Sheetal Mhatre, who is working under CM Shinde, responded to Chaturvedi’s remarks by saying, “She wanted to contest from Mumbai North West constituency, but because she could not get it, she is making such comments.” Her tenure in the Rajya Sabha is also due to expire, and she is assiduously pursuing a second term.

“The woman MP of Shiv Sena (UBT) has said that it should be written on the forehead of Maharashtra’s CM’s son that’mera baap gaddar hai.” Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam responded to the statement as well. I would want to respond to her by saying that Uddhav Thackeray, not the Shiv Sena (UBT), is the one who has been deceived. He has deceived Balasaheb Thackeray, the people, and the BJP.

“If you want’mera baap gaddar hai’ to be written on Shrikant’s forehead, then’mera baap maha gaddar hai’ should be written on Aaditya Thackeray’s forehead since they have actually betrayed,” he said.
