For inviting a woman inside the cockpit of a flight from Delhi to Leh last week, Air India has grounded its two pilots.

Due to last week’s invitation of a lady into the cockpit of an aircraft between Delhi and Leh, Air India has grounded its two pilots.

Following a month in which an Air India pilot was suspended for bringing his female acquaintance into the cockpit, the airliner took this move.

According to the allegations, Air India management took action against the captain and the co-pilot shortly after learning that a female passenger had entered the cockpit of the AI-445 aircraft without permission from the cabin staff.

A senior Air India official was allegedly cited as saying, “A female friend of AI-445 pilot entered the cockpit without following rules, both pilots have been grounded/off-roster by Air India.”

“Is aware of the problem and is taking the necessary action in the matter in accordance with the procedures,” the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said.

Allowing an unauthorised individual in the cockpit of a commercial aeroplane is against the law since the Leh route is one of the country’s most hazardous and sensitive air routes in terms of safety and security.

owing to the country’s high altitude hilly terrain and sensitive location owing to the existence of facilities for the country’s defence forces, landing at Leh Airport is one of the most difficult operations nationwide. Additionally, because of the low oxygen levels in this terrain, only very competent pilots in excellent condition should be sent out for missions in Leh, according to a story in NDTV that cited aviation expert Vipul Saxena.

The DGCA recently suspended the licence of an Air India pilot who, on February 27, let his female acquaintance into the cockpit of AI-915, an Air India aircraft from Dubai to Delhi.

The airline was also given a Rs. 30 lakh punishment by the DGCA for allegedly failing to respond quickly and decisively in the cockpit violation event.
