From Kodangal, Revanth Reddy will run for the Telangana Assembly

A. Revanth Reddy, the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), has declared that he would run in the next legislative elections from the Kodangal district, while former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir intends to challenge Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the Kamareddy district.

A number of top figures applied for Assembly seats, including them.

700 or more people have applied for congressional seats, according to party sources. The number is expected to dramatically rise as Friday is the final day to submit applications.

Reddy visited the Kodangal constituency and spoke with the regional party officials. Later, certain leaders applied for tickets on the TPCC president’s behalf.

Reddy now represents the Malkajgiri constituency in parliament. On the recommendation of the party high leadership, he said, he would join the fight from Kodangal in the Vikarabad area.

He had lost the Kodangal seat in the 2018 election to Patnam Narender Reddy of the BRS, but he was chosen to represent Malkajgiri in the Lok Sabha in 2019.

Previously, Revanth Reddy was elected twice from Kodangal by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2009 and 2014. In 2017, he joined the Congress party.

He was named state party president in 2021 by the Congress leadership, who disregarded numerous senior figures.

After Uttam Kumar Reddy, he is the second member of the Congress to file for an Assembly ticket. Uttam Kumar, a Nalgonda resident and member of the Lok Sabha, has already declared that he would run for the Assembly in Huzurabad, while Padmavathi, his wife, will run as the party’s candidate in Kodad.

Mohammed Ali Shabbir, a prominent member of the Congress, has registered for a Kamareddy party ticket. He will face Chief Minister KCR, who has previously declared that he would run from both Gajwel and Kamareddy, a seat that he won in 2018.

Shabbir, who was elected from Kamareddy in 1989 and 2004, had fallen to Gampa Govardhan of the BRS in four straight elections.According to KCR, Kamareddy asked him to run for office at Govardhan’s suggestion.

Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Jeevan Reddy, two former ministers, submitted applications from the Jangaon and Jagtiyal seats, respectively.

Raghuveer Reddy, the son of former minister K. Jana Reddy, has made an application for a ticket from the Nagarjuna Sagar seat.

On Friday, applications will be accepted until 5 p.m.

On the last day, many candidates are expected to show up.

After receiving the applications and reviewing them, the state committee of the party will conduct a poll to determine the likelihood that each qualifying candidate would win.

The names of the candidates the state election commission has selected will be sent to the screening committee, according to Revanth Reddy.

After reviewing the list, the screening committee will transmit the names it has chosen to the party’s central election committee. The names of the candidates will be sent to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) for a final decision if the central election committee is likewise unable to make a choice.

Every applicant must pay an application fee of Rs. 50,000 to the party. The application cost is Rs. 25,000 for candidates from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, however.
