G20 Meeting: Member Countries Support Five Major Tourism Track Priorities; Everything You Need To Know

Five key priorities of the G20 tourism track, including green tourism, digitalization, and destination management, have been endorsed by all group members for sustainable, resilient, and inclusive growth in the sector, according to officials as the G20 Tourism Ministers Meeting successfully concluded in Goa on Wednesday.

A Goa Roadmap and Action Plan as well as a ministerial result paper were released after the conference.

Details of the conference
The ministerial conference was attended by over 130 delegates from nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, South Africa, Russia, Mauritius, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Nigeria, Oman, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, and major international organisations.

Through a pre-recorded video message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the attendees.

What did the minister of tourism say?
Before the discussions started, G Kishan Reddy, the Union Tourism Ministry, along with PM Modi, spoke to the participants.

The G20 delegation “welcomed both the deliverables of the G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting,” he stated.

Later, he tweeted, “All G20 countries endorsed five interconnected key priorities of the G20 Tourism track for achieving sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism,” including “green tourism, digitisation, destination management, skills, and tourism MSMEs.”

bilateral discussions
According to authorities, a number of bilateral discussions with the US, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia took occurred outside of the summit.

On the fringes of the fourth Tourism Working Group and Ministerial Meeting, Brian Beall, Director of the National Travel and Tourism Office, United States of America, met bilaterally with Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Tourism, according to a tweet from India.

On a variety of subjects, including data exchange, investments, and knowledge transfer, they had good conversations. According to the statement, the parties decided to institutionalise procedures to support the professional development of hospitality workers.

Alongside the Tourism Working Group and Ministerial Meeting, Naik also met with Eduardo Uziel, the Brazilian ambassador to India, according to the Union Tourism Ministry.

“The discussions threw into sharp relief the significant cultural exchanges that have aided in improving ties. The Ambassador commended India for its leadership and agreed to work together on promotional initiatives for both countries, it tweeted.

Michiel Sweers, the Netherlands’ Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, and Naik also had a meeting.

The Goa Tourism Working Group’s discussions and India’s management of the G20 Presidency were welcomed by the parties, the ministry tweeted.
