Gentle snowfall in Himachal Pradesh’s upper regions and tribal areas

Over the previous 24 hours, extensive rain pounded the middle and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh, while mild snow continued to fall in the state’s upper reaches and tribal territories, according to the weather office on Sunday.

Except for April 1, the local MeT office forecasted a rainy period across the state until April 6.

There was hail in certain areas of Sundernagar, Shimla, and Solan, while Gondla in the tribal Lahaul and Spiti region experienced 22 cm of snow, followed by Kukumseri (11.6 cm), Keylong 7.5 cm, and Kalpa 5.5 cm.

Since a new western disturbance is expected to strike the western Himalayan area starting on April 2 and again on April 5, the Shimla MeT office has forecast a rainy period in the state from April 2 to April 6.

The state emergency operation center’s data shows that on Saturday night, 172 roads—four of which are National Highways—were off-limits to cars. In Lahaul and Spiti, where 157 routes have yet to be opened, the majority of these roads are situated in rugged terrain.
