Ghosi Byelection: Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak Charges SP Candidate’s Son With Threatening Police Officer

On Sunday, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak claimed that a police constable had been threatened and that the outpost’s Dalit in-charge would be “beaten up with shoes” by the son of the Samajwadi Party candidate for the Ghosi assembly byelection.

Prior to the September 5 byelections, the BJP leader charged the Samajwadi Party of engaging in hooliganism and requested the Election Commission to investigate.

After receiving an audio recording from Sujeet Singh, the son of Samajwadi Party candidate Sudhakar Singh, on August 31, the police opened an investigation against him on Saturday night based on a complaint from constable Yogesh Kumar Yadav.

The departure of Samajwadi Party MLA and OBC leader Dara Singh Chauhan, who joined the BJP and is running for reelection, forced the need for the byelection in Ghosi.

According to Pathak, Sudhakar Singh’s son threatened a police constable stationed at the Kurthijafarpur police outpost on the phone because he didn’t support the Samajwadi Party, PTI reported on Sunday.

The deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said that the son of the SP candidate, Sujeet Singh, also threatened to beat up the police officer in charge of the outpost if he was a member of the Dalit group.

Sujeet Singh’s case has been filed under IPC sections 186 (obstructing public servants in the performance of their duties), 169 (public servants unlawfully purchasing or bidding for property), 322 (causing grievous harm), 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), and 171C (undue influence at elections), according to Ghosi Shitala Prasad Pandey, the circle officer.

On Sunday evening, the campaigning for the byelections to the Ghosi assembly seat in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh came to a conclusion. On September 8, there will be a vote count.

The Samajwadi Party candidate has received backing from the Left and Congress parties. For the byelection, the BSP has not fielded any candidates.
