heated discussion on employment guarantees in the Himachal Assembly

During the budget session on Tuesday, there was a heated discussion in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly over government employment.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu asked Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur to provide documentation in the House proving that his administration will give one lakh government employment in a year, as stated by the Congress.

Jai Ram Thakur had earlier claimed that the Congress has pledged to provide one lakh government jobs in a year.

The House was enraged by this.

Trilok Jamwal, a member of the BJP, said that the Congress had promised to announce one lakh government jobs at the first cabinet meeting. Nevertheless, no government jobs have been awarded.

The chief minister took issue with this, claiming that the Congress had not made this claim while yet acknowledging that one lakh jobs will be produced in a year.

In response, Jai Ram Thakur said right away that the Congress had discussed creating one lakh government employment and had even read the assurance made in this respect.

In response, the prime minister restated that Congress had not made any such commitment.

The chief minister said, “If Jai Ram Thakur has any evidence, he should prove it, sign, and place that document on the table of the House.”

The chief minister said that everything that is floating on social media these days lacks credibility and cannot be used as proof. He said that the administration will take measures against the opposition leader for allegedly disseminating incorrect information on social media and deceiving people.
