Heavy traffic ahead of farmers’ protest at the border between Delhi and Gujarat| Video

Tuesday, before of the farmers’ “Delhi Chalo” protest march day, saw a disruption in vehicular traffic in the nation’s capital as their meeting with two Union ministers over their demands proved fruitless.

Videos released by news organizations showed cars backed up at the border between Gujarat and Delhi because of restrictions on cross-border travel. Additionally, the authorities have imposed restrictions on traffic at the capital’s borders with Ghazipur, Shambhu, and Singhu.

At these borders, many layers of barricading have been put in place to prevent the farmers who are protesting from accessing the nation’s capital.

“Section 144 is operational. Tractor trolleys and assemblies are not allowed in. Here are the Delhi Police and the CAPF. We’re ready to lock down the border. We’ll make sure that nobody crosses this boundary. The northeast district’s deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Ankit Singh, told ANI that “if there is any untoward incident, we will seal it completely.”

Following the deadlock in the most recent round of negotiations with the administration, over 200 farmer unions will be traveling to the city on Tuesday.

“We don’t believe the government will abide by any of our requests. We believe they have no desire to comply with our requests. We’re going to march towards Delhi tomorrow at ten in the morning,” farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher told reporters on Monday.

The meeting with the farmers was attended by Piyush Goyal, the minister of food and consumer affairs, and Arjun Munda, the union minister of agriculture. Munda said that the majority of the problems had been resolved, and the Center had suggested that a committee be formed to handle the remaining difficulties.

The government’s constant wish is for us to be able to talk our way out of any problem. We welcome negotiations and we remain optimistic,” Munda was cited by PTI.

It has been declared by the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) that over 200 farmer unions would go to Delhi to exert pressure on the Center to grant their requests.
