Himachal Pradesh: Retired civil service officer serving as current chief adviser after being accused of corruption by CM Sukhu

Ram Subhag Singh, a senior civil service official who retired on Monday, has been appointed for a one-year term as Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s key advisor by the Himachal Pradesh government, which is governed by the Congress.

The 1987-batch IAS official has been tasked by the chief minister with advising on subjects pertaining to the electricity department and suggesting plans to increase the state’s dairy output.

An anonymous official in the Sukhu administration reportedly said that the Congress had attacked the Jairam administration over accusations of corruption against Ram Subhag Singh when the BJP was in power and they were the Opposition.

The leader continued by speculating as to what he might stand to gain by his re-appointment as special adviser. Additionally, the minister said that Jairam Thakur’s administration had great hopes for him, but he had to be relieved.

Prior to that, on January 1, the administration headed by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu nominated him as the chief minister’s top adviser.
