“Hindu Ek Dhokha”: Swami Prasad Maurya of the SP Sparks New Controversy, 2024 Poll Heat Rises; BJP Reacts

With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections rapidly approaching, politicians have started courting various segments of the populace, particularly the impoverished. The motormouth leader of the Samajwadi Party, Swami Prasad Maurya, has once again added his remarks about “Hindu ek dhoka hai” to the list of scandals, which has angered the opposition.

In addition to labeling the Hindu faith as a “betrayal,” Maurya clarified that similar remarks have been made by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Mohan Bhagwat, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Supreme Court declared in a ruling from 1955 that Hinduism is a way of life rather than a religion. It is an amalgam of almost two hundred different faiths. Mohan Bhagwat has said twice that Hinduism is a way of life rather than a religion. Furthermore, Hinduism is not a religion, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a media conference, even Gadkari had made similar remarks, Maurya said on Monday during her speech at the National Buddhist and Bahujan Rights Conference in New Delhi.

The head of the Samajwadi Party questioned why, when others express the same opinions on Hinduism as he did, no one’s feelings are offended.

“However, when they say these things, nobody is offended. However, when Swami Prasad Maurya asserts that Hinduism is not a religion but rather a betrayal and that, for some, the Hindu religion is a business, the entire nation becomes enraged,” Maurya said.

“No one took offense when the Supreme Court made the same statement in 1955. However, when Swami Prasad Maurya says that, there are FIRs filed all throughout the nation. “I am expressing the same viewpoint as the Indian Constitution,” he said.

The head of the Samajwadi Party said that after using the Bahujan vote bank to gain power, the Hindu upper classes revoked their reservations.

Together, the Brahmin, Kshatriya, and Vaishya communities comprise 8% of the population. By themselves, this 8% are unable to establish a government. They established the regime in the name of Hinduism by taking advantage of the lower classes. We are Hindus for the sake of voting. But we are no longer Hindus after establishing the administration. Had it been the case, reservations for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and backward castes would never have been canceled, according to Maurya.

The MLC for the Samajwadi Party said that the removal of reservations is a move towards undermining democracy by people in positions of authority.

Manuvaad is being given priority by individuals in positions of authority, including the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers, who all vow allegiance to the Constitution. The Constitution is becoming less and less relevant. Reservations are no longer accepted. Democracy itself is eroding. Almost 150 Members of Parliament were removed from office. Is this not a plot to subvert democracy? Is the government not dictating to its citizens what it wants? stated Maurya.

The controversial remarks made recently by Swami Prasad Maurya
In August, Swami Prasad Maurya, who gained notoriety for inciting a significant controversy with his remarks on Ramcharitmanas, said that Hinduism is a “betrayal.”

Maurya was heard stating, “The roots of Brahminism are very deep and the reason for all the disparity is also Brahminism,” in a video that was uploaded on “X.” Hinduism is only a fabrication; there is no such religion. There is a plot to use the same Brahmin religion as Hinduism in order to ensnare this nation’s Dalits, tribal people, and backward citizens.

The head of the Samajwadi Party has also questioned the conception of the Hindu deity Lakshmi, asking, “How can Lakshmi be born with four hands?” Swami Prasad Maurya said in a post on X that all children born in the world have two hands, two legs, two ears, and two eyes. He further stated that because there has never been a kid born with eight or ten hands, how is it possible for the goddess Lakshmi to have four hands?

BITING REACTIONS FROM OPPONENTS: • Union minister Nityanand Rai responded to Maurya’s “Hindu ek dhoka hai” comment by saying, “Be it Swami Prasad Maurya or any other leader of the INDIA alliance, they don’t grasp the definition of ‘dharma’…Appeasement is the foundation of their philosophy, and it’s done to get votes.

• In response to Maurya’s remarks on Goddess Lakshmi, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav received a sharp rebuke from BJP President Bhupendra Chaudhary last month. According to Choudhury, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has previously refrained from commenting on the insults made against Ramayana and Mata Mahalakshmi Ji. This demonstrates that the leader of the SP personally gave Swami Prasad Maurya the objective to denigrate the Sanatan Hindu faith by appointing him as the party’s national general secretary.
