Huge Argument After Bengal Minister Disputes With Union Minister; tense video shows TMC-BJP altercation

Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) clashed in the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal on Tuesday night, shortly after Union Minister of State for Home Nisith Paramanik concluded a public meeting and before a state minister Udayan Guha’s rally was set to start nearby. Around 8:30 p.m., the incident took place in the Dinhata Bazar neighborhood.

The cops had to use lathi-charge in order to maintain control of the scene. A sub-divisional police officer was among the numerous people who were allegedly hurt when they intervened to stop the two sides from exchanging blows. The violence also caused damage to a number of stores.

According to reports, this is the first altercation between rival party supporters in West Bengal following the announcement of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. The Trinamool Congress has demanded a 24-hour bandh in Dinhata today in response to the incident.

CAN YOU REMEMBER DINHATA?
After attending the meeting, Pramanik, the local BJP MP, was leaving when the event occurred. It was also planned for the TMC to have a meeting a short distance from the location.

Pramanik stated that stones were thrown from the TMC rally site as his convoy was leaving the area.

“After the presentation ended, I was walking out of the area when TMC fans began throwing stones at us. Thus, I had to come down to voice my opposition to the TMC workers’ violent and undemocratic behavior,” he said to a Bengali news channel.

Additionally, Pramanik claimed that Guha, the Minister of Development for North Bengal, was the one who started beating up BJP activists and giving the police orders to put them in custody.

Guha denied the accusations, calling them “baseless,” and asserted that stones were thrown at the TMC rally site by BJP supporters.

“We were being shot at with arrows and stones by members of Nisith Pramanik’s convoy. A few of our employees suffered injuries. Guha said, “The Union minister himself was inciting his supporters to attack us.”

He claimed that the TMC was being prevented from campaigning in the region by the BJP.

TMC IS ATTACKED BY BJP
Amit Malviya, the leader of the BJP, described the Dinhata incident as a “state-sponsored crime signal” after it happened.

He posted a video of the incident on Twitter, captioning it, “TMC goons attack Union Minister and BJP’s Coochbehar candidate Nishith Pramanik.” His convoy’s vehicles suffered vandalism. Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet minister Udayan Guha led the group of armed criminals. This type of official criminal activity indicates a total collapse of law and order.

PRESIDENT REQUESTS REPORT
The state police chief’s report on the “veracity of the report” regarding the “altercation and confrontation” between Pramanik and Guha has been requested by Governor CV Ananda Bose, according to a statement released by the Raj Bhavan.

“A list of habitual offenders received through the ‘logsabha’ portal has also been sent by the Governor for appropriate preventive action to deter them from interfering with free and fair elections,” the statement read.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the Indian Election Commission has also requested a report on the incident.
