In a Shimla district accident, a man and his grandchild died

The SUV they were traveling in crashed down a 50-meter canyon in Tikkar tehsil in the Shimla district, killing a 65-year-old father and his grandson and injuring six others, according to police here today.

The dead were identified as Bahadur Singh, son of Bokhla, and Akshat (10), son of Kashi Ram.

Residents of Tikkar tehsil include Poonam (33), Satya Devi (55), Seema (30), Meena (35), driver Amar (35) and Seema (11).

On Sunday, there was an accident on the Gujandli-Deorighat connection road as they were in route to Narayan temple.

According to the authorities, the car fell down the gorge because the driver lost control of it.

With the help of the townspeople, a police squad managed to collect the remains and save the wounded from the steep gorge.

After a postmortem, the remains were given to the victims’ family, while the wounded were sent to the Civil Hospital in Rohru.
