In Chennai, ECI hosts a quiz competition for college students

The Election Commission of India (ECI) held a quiz tournament for college students in Chennai as one of its continuing voter outreach programs. Declaring Chennai’s low voter turnout to be the result of “urban apathy,” the ECI ordered the district election office to launch extra outreach programs.

About 150 students from 30 Chennai-based institutions took part in the quiz. Cash awards of Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000, and Rs 5,000 were given to the top three teams.At the competition’s opening, District Election Officer J Radhakrishnan stressed to college students the importance of voting.
