It won’t succeed to overthrow the K’taka Cong government—DyCM Shivakumar

D. K. Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister of Karnataka, said on Saturday that the BJP’s plot to overthrow the state’s Congress administration is doomed to fail.

Prior to his departure for Hyderabad, Shivakumar was talking with media in the city.

He said, “We know this conspiracy,” following comments made in this respect by Congress MLA Ganiga Ravi. Prominent leaders are in charge of it. But nothing will be effective.

He insisted that he would ask the party’s MLAs to refrain from speaking to the media about internal party issues, the government, or power sharing.

Shivakumar said that if they continue to make remarks in spite of the warning, there is nothing else to do except send them warnings.

Ganiga Ravi, a Karnataka Congress MLA, said on Friday that moves are on to topple the state’s Congress administration and that his colleagues are being promised a ministerial portfolio and Rs. 50 crore.

MLA Ganiga Ravi told reporters in Davanagere that they had already talked to and spoken with four Congress MLAs, without mentioning the BJP by name.

Among those making approaches is N.R. Santhosh, the former personal secretary of B.S. Yediyurappa.

Notably, Santhosh was instrumental in helping the JD(S)-Congress coalition government get in touch with ministers and a dissident MLA.

After the BJP succeeded in unseating 17 ministers and MLAs, the coalition government collapsed. The only majority party at the time was the BJP.

There are now just 66 MLAs for the BJP party out of the 224 members of the state assembly. 136 seats were won by the Congress party.

“Santhosh ran for office as a JD (S) candidate but was unsuccessful. He still hadn’t picked up his teachings. He is saying that MLAs will be bought and the government overthrown. In a similar vein, many are attempting. They’ve left us videos. The chief minister Siddaramaiah and the deputy chief minister D.K. Shivakumar have been informed of the development. At a suitable moment, they will be freed, MLA Ravi had said.

“The sincere MLAs from our party who were contacted have quickly responded and provided information. Along with the new MLAs, they had also met the elders. Not a single party MLA has caved down. Democracy suffers from development. The films and documents in this respect will be made available very soon,” he said again.

“They are promising MLAs that they will become ministers and are offering them Rs 50 crore.” The MLAs have been informed that they would be sent to New Delhi to set up a meeting with Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister.

He had said that the individuals contacting MLAs had also stated that they would not be traveling with them and that someone would pick them up. MLA Ravi went on to say that the activity seems to be a hawala transaction. We own audio and video recordings. They aren’t contacting me since I have a close relationship with the party. However, our pals are. They seem to be unemployed and are working nonstop every day to entice lawmakers. In various parts of the state, experts are addressing this, he had said.
