Kerala’s top industrial center is Ernakulam District Industrial Centre

This year, the Ernakulam center won the Best District Industrial Centre (DIC) Award 2023 for launching new businesses and creating employment.

According to data, the DIC played a key role in the establishment of 14,128 new businesses, the creation of 33,765 job opportunities, and the attraction of Rs 1,172.46 crore in investment.

According to sources, the district’s Industrial Single Window Clearance Board was effectively implemented by the center. “It has been made easy to get all permissions and licences required to start an enterprise through the monthly single window board meetings chaired by the district collector,” a source said.

Under the Entrepreneur Support Scheme (ESS), the center made Rs 10.45 crore accessible last year. It benefited 126 people. Under the PMEG initiative, a total of Rs 5.05 crore was made available, benefiting sixty individuals. A total of Rs 1.73 crore in subsidies were available to up to 21 customers.

In the district panchayat program, ten candidates would each get Rs 20.47 lakh. There is a 100% implementation rate. Under the Industrial Security Scheme for MSMEs, 198 individuals have benefited from a sanctioned amount of Rs 44.96 lakh. According to the source, two beneficiaries under the Revival and Rehabilitation Scheme of Defunct MSMEs and Cashew Processing Units have been given access to around Rs 80,000.

1,752 investors in the Integrated Infrastructure Development (IID) program were discovered by the center. 481 units in total were launched. In IID, a total of Rs 767.98 crore has already been invested. In 2022–2023 the district added five additional Entrepreneurship Development (ED) clubs, bringing the total to 84.
