Kharif paddy bonus determines Telangana cabinet

The 10th Telangana Formation Day festivities on June 2 will include former AICC chairwoman Sonia Gandhi as the principal guest, according to a decision made by the state Cabinet. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy presided over a Cabinet meeting on Monday during which the decision was reached.

The government will also honor well-known individuals who were instrumental in the creation of the state. The Cabinet will get authorization from the Indian Election Commission to carry out the festivities.

Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy briefed the media on the decisions made by the Cabinet and announced that, in keeping with a promise made by the Congress during the Assembly elections, the government will pay Rs 500 per quintal as a bonus for superfine variety of paddy starting in the upcoming kharif season. The move is intended to incentivize farmers to grow superfine paddy to be distributed via ration stores and to provide superfine rice for the midday meal program and hostels.

Srinivasa Reddy said that 36 lakh metric tons of paddy had been purchased by the Civil Supplies department and that payments will be put into farmers’ bank accounts in three days. The minister said that the government has chosen to purchase wet paddy at MSP in spite of the recent unseasonal rains, and district collectors have been given the appropriate instructions.

The government intends to take strong action against individuals engaged in the production and selling of fake seeds and fertilizers in order to stop the spread of these dangerous products as the kharif season draws near. According to Srinivasa Reddy, “farmers are being advised to purchase only company-manufactured seeds and retain the receipts until the end of the season.”

Additionally, the Cabinet authorized the allocation of Rs 600 crore to be used by Amma Adarsha Committees for school modernization. According to him, an advance of Rs 160 crore has already been provided, with schools scheduled to resume on June 12. The execution of these measures would be supervised by a Cabinet subcommittee, which Minister D Sridhar Babu will head, he added.

The National Dam Safety Authority’s (NDSA) interim report on the Medigadda, Sundilla, and Annaram barrages was also considered by the Cabinet.

The NDSA study suggested doing geo-physical and geo-technical testing, avoiding water storage in the barrages, and opening the gates for unrestricted water flow. ~

Two businesses will test every KLIS barrage.

The Cabinet made the decision to go on with the testing of each dam by two government-affiliated businesses and to follow their recommendations.

The Cabinet will investigate the viability of low-cost temporary water raising solutions, including gabion boxes or rock fill dams, as the monsoon draws near. The minister said that officials have been told to put farmers’ interests first.

Sridhar Babu restated the government’s commitment to delivering on election pledges while concentrating on agriculture and education. He brought up the fact that district collectors have evaluated agricultural damage brought on by unusually heavy rainfall. He reminded everyone that the minister of agriculture and the chief minister had previously promised pay.

Sridhar Babu said that the Congress administration was dedicated to providing high-quality education and better infrastructure, accusing the previous BRS government of ignoring the education sector.

Minister Venkat Reddy said that officials and ministers have been requested to visit paddy procurement centers on a regular basis and restated the government’s pledge to waive agricultural debts by August 15.
