While returning from the shrine, an Amarnath pilgrim falls and dies; another is hurt

Along the north Kashmir Baltal road to the cave shrine, one Amarnath Yatra traveler fell and died, while another was hurt.

According to Jammu & Kashmir police, a pilgrim named Vijay Kumar Shah (50), of Tumba village in Bihar’s Rohtas district, tripped and fell approximately 300 feet near Kali Mata Morh on Friday. He perished there instantly. He was with a lady named Mamta Kumari.

“The corpse has been located and is being sent to the hospital at Baltal Base Camp. The wounded lady is receiving care at the hospital at Brarimarg Base Camp, according to the police.

The 62-day Amaranth Yatra began on July 1 and will conclude on August 31 at the Raksha Bandhan festival and Shravan Purnima.

Over 4.50 lakh pilgrims have participated in the current yatra so far.
