Malerkotla: Four were apprehended by the police and were about to rob someone

During a campaign on anti-social elements on the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday, the police claimed to have busted a renowned gang of thieves, preventing a robbery at a gasoline station or some other defenseless business.

Four gang members managed to escape under the cover of darkness, while four others were apprehended by the coordinated operations of police officers stationed at the Sadar Ahmedgarh police station and Emergency Response Teams.

The apprehended suspects, named as Muhammad Bilal, alias Cheeku, Mohammad Abid, alias Laddu, Mohammad Abid, alias Motewala, and Mohammad Yamin, alias Bobby, had two iron rods, two huge knives, and a black motorbike found on them. Under the direction of DSP Amritpal Singh Bhatti, police officers had begun a quest to find criminals who were escaping. Separate squads had encircled the miscreants after getting a tip about their intention to attack at a gas station or an abandoned company in Dulma village on Saturday night, according to Malerkotla SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh. The police were on high alert due to increased security in anticipation of the local elections, therefore, the crackdown produced the expected consequences.

Preliminary investigations showed that the miscreants were engaged in illicit operations such as animal theft, livestock trafficking for sale to slaughterhouses in neighboring states, and snatchings, even though the investigating team did not yet have information on all the gang members.

“We consider the gang busting as a significant accomplishment because the accused posed a serious threat to regional peace because of their involvement in cattle smuggling,” SSP Khakh said.

The petrol station was the target.

Separate squads had apprehended the miscreants after getting information about their intention to attack a gas station or an abandoned building in Dulma village on Saturday night, according to Malerkotla SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh. Due to increased security ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the police were on high alert throughout the crackdown, which produced the intended results.
