Malerkotla’s security was stepped up for the Lok Sabha and Ramadan elections

The Malerkotla police said that they increased security because of the upcoming Lok Sabha election and the month of Ramadan.

Senior officials are examining preventive measures being implemented at the police station and beat levels in addition to planning flag marches, laying nakas, and conducting search and combing operations in all of the district’s subdivisions.

The Malerkotla police rank and file have been advised to increase vigil around the locations of polling places and other strategic establishments, such as railway stations, bus stops, educational institutions, government buildings, religious places, busy markets, and densely populated localities at all towns and villages falling under the district, according to the authorities, led by Patiala Deputy Inspector General Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who was in the area to review the security arrangements.

“We have drafted an elaborate program to organise flag marches, combing operations, and CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) action with intent to instill confidence among residents, in addition to taking proactive measures to check intrusion of anti-social elements under the guise of visitors from outside areas,” stated DIG Bhullar. “All activities will be conducted under direct supervision of SPs and DSPs,” he added.

Office bearers and activists from different social organizations have been brought in to educate locals about the value of community policing in preserving peace and tranquility in the area, according to Malerkotla SSP Simrat Kaur.

In addition to removing narcotics and other social ills with the assistance of the locals in the impacted regions, SSP Kaur said that the police were dedicated to ensuring peace and tranquility in the area. “While circle officers oversee the improvement of security measures in areas under their purview, district level officers, including myself, conduct sporadic inspections at all police stations and key locations to assess the protocols,” the SSP stated.
