More pilgrims depart from Jammu for the Amarnath shrine

Over 7,000 new pilgrims headed for the Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas early on Friday, according to authorities.

A caravan of 247 cars carrying pilgrims departed this location’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp towards the valley under heavy security. According to the authorities, a convoy of 153 cars carrying 4,600 pilgrims going for Pahalgam departed, while a second convoy of 94 vehicles carrying 2,410 pilgrims was the first to depart for the Baltal base camp at 3.45 am.

Since the yatra’s official commencement on June 30th, a total of 43,833 pilgrims have traveled from the Jammu base camp to the valley. They said that the number of pilgrims visiting the site had surpassed 84,000.

From the twin trails of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district, the 62-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,888-meter-high cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas began on July 1.

On August 31, the yatra is supposed to come to an end. The Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) is in charge of keeping an eye on the whole yatra. To meet the needs of pilgrims, all departments keep an eye on things and use this location to communicate with their workers out in the field.
