Mumbai: BEST To Launch Atal Setu’s First Public Bus Service in India; Verify Routes

With the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) finalising the route for the city’s maiden bus service on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) – the Atal Setu – Mumbai is getting ready for an exciting addition to its public transport system.

The recently formed S-145 road crosses the Atal Setu and runs between Konkan Bhavan, Belapur, and the World Trade Center. According to Mid-day.com, it will make stops at Churchgate station, MTHL, Eastern Freeway, Sai Sangam, Targhar, Ulwe node, Aai Tarumata, and Kamdhenu Oaklands before ending at Cuffe Parade.

There will be two services running in each way, two in the morning from Belapur to the World Trade Center and two in the evening.

The route and tariff structure are being refined, and BEST authorities are working on completing toll charges. For assessment and input, a test run including bus aficionados and specialists has been carried out.

Recently joining the Shiv Sena, Milind Deora was the former Union Minister of Communications and Shipping. She has requested the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to create a “bus priority lane” on the recently built Mumbai-Tokyo Highway (MTHL).

The launch of the S-145 bus route, which provides passengers with quick and easy access across the MTHL, is a noteworthy accomplishment for Mumbai’s public transportation system. BEST intends to expand its offerings in order to accommodate the rising demand for transportation among locals and tourists.
