Namma Metro in Bengaluru Launches Additional Purple Line Trains During Peak Hours

As one of the most practical means of transit inside the city, Bengaluru’s Namma metro sees a considerable increase in commuter traffic throughout the week. Namma Metro has made the decision to add more train services on its Purple line in response to the high level of customer demand. These extra trains would be helpful for passengers traveling between the Mahatma Gandhi Road station and the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Majestic metro stations.

Notably, the addition of these extra trains on the Purple Line is a test project whose performance will decide whether comparable expansions are added to other metro lines. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) issued this notification.

The BMRCL statement claims that the addition of these additional trains would provide respite for passengers between Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station – Majestic and Mahatma Gandhi Road metro station during the morning rush hour. These extra trains will run Monday through Friday throughout the workweek.

“Beginning on September 1, 2023, BMRCL will operate extra trips on weekdays (Monday through Friday) between Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station – Majestic and Mahatma Gandhi Road metro stations in order to improve passenger convenience during morning peak hours. According to the official notice, these extra trips are being made on the Purple Line as a test.

The MG Road station will serve as the final destination for these services. At MG Road Station, passengers who want to continue on to Baiyappanahalli must change trains.

Commuters may exit at the Mahatma Gandhi Road metro station and change to the opposite train if they are going to Baiyappanahalli, which is located beyond Mahatma Gandhi Road. The Namma metro officials in Bengaluru urge users to take use of this additional convenience.

Recent years have seen a notable increase in the number of passengers using the Purple Line, especially during rush hours. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has taken measures to solve the problem and offer a more pleasant experience on public transportation in response to these passenger concerns.

Additionally, the 2-kilometer Baiyappanahalli-KR Puram segment is slated to open in September. This development will provide a vital link between Bengaluru East and the city’s central and southern regions.

The present length of the Bengaluru Metro network, which includes important operating parts, is 69.66 kilometers. These parts include a 25.63-kilometer metro route from East Baiyappanahalli to West Kengeri Terminal and a 39.34-kilometer east-west corridor from Krishnarajapura to Whitefield (Kadugodi) Metro Station. The railway service extends from North Nagasandra to South Silk Institute, adding a further 30.32 kilometer north-south link.
