The prosecution charge submitted by the ED in connection with the 2022 human hair smuggling case, in which a resident of Mizoram and 16 other individuals unlawfully smuggled human hair from India to Myanmar, was taken under consideration by a special court in Nampally on Friday.
The investigation found that the traffickers used hawala networks to exchange money for the items. The crime came to light in February 2022 when the Hyderabad police filed a formal complaint (FIR) against Nay La Family Exports for using forged paperwork to smuggle human hair. This led to the ED opening an inquiry into the matter.
