National Exit Test Will Be Required Starting With the 2020 MBBS Class: Health Minister

The National Exit Test (NExT), according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, would not apply to the 2019 MBBS class and will only be used for the subsequent batch.

The union minister said the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Centre would not make any decisions that cause confusion while speaking with students at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur after the laying of the unit’s foundation stone there.

The National Exit Test will function as a common qualifying final-year MBBS test, a license exam to practice contemporary medicine, a license exam for merit-based postgraduate course entrance, and a screening exam for foreign medical graduates who want to practice in India, according to the NMC Act.

When questioned whether NExT will cause medical students to experience more stress, Mandaviya said, “No student is needed to experience any stress. The 2019 batch is not being brought under NExT by me. The 2020 batch will be added to it. This year’s NExT will not take place.

“Another thing is that I won’t regard the final exam as the next step.”Give the degree, however once you’ve given the degree, you can only register if you pass NExT. This implies that NExT and NEET are equivalent.

The minister said that neither the government nor NMC would make a choice that would cause pupils to become confused.
