Notice Against NBCC For Violating Anti-Dust Norms Regarding Delhi Pollution

The federal government-owned construction firm NBCC India is expected to get a warning for allegedly breaking dust control regulations at a project site in Delhi, according to Gopal Rai, the city’s environment minister.

The NBCC construction site next to the Karkardooma Metro Station was visited by Rai on Tuesday as part of the Delhi government’s anti-dust campaign. Rai discovered that construction trash was being thrown in the open and that anti-smog weapons were not in use.

The minister instructed the DPCC to notify the company and warned that if they don’t provide a sufficient response within 24 hours, they risk being fined.

Rai on Saturday began a month-long campaign to stop dust pollution in the city and warned that anybody caught breaking the law would face harsh punishment.

The Anti-Dust Campaign includes actions like installing dust management equipment at any location larger than 500 square meters, with real-time monitoring accessible through a web interface.

Rai said that 258 mobile anti-smog guns and 530 water sprinklers have been used to battle dust pollution, and that 591 teams have been established to guarantee strict adherence to dust management rules.

He claimed that based on real-time air quality data gathered from 40 air quality monitoring stations around the city, distinct and detailed action plans had been created for each of Delhi’s 13 air pollution hotspots.

The minister said that a total of 13 teams had been established to carry out these action plans in the areas with the worst levels of air pollution.

With a focus on reducing dust pollution, vehicle emissions, and open rubbish burning, the Delhi government last month unveiled a 15-point action plan to reduce air pollution in the nation’s capital during the winter months.
