Kejriwal Approves Cutting Down 78 Trees in Delhi for the Vande Bharat Train Shed

According to a Monday official statement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a plan to cut down and relocate 78 trees in order to build a new maintenance facility for Vande Bharat trains.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the licence was granted subject to the Railways planting 780 new saplings. The Railways submitted a plan to the government for clearing the building site by removing and relocating 78 trees. It stated that Kejriwal has endorsed the idea in the interest of the country.

Shakur Basti will have a railway shed, according to the Railways. However, the statement claimed that some tree patches were impeding the site’s construction.

According to the CMO, it had written to the Delhi government’s Environment and Forests Department to request permission to cut down eight trees and transplant 70 others in order to clean the land.

Modern infrastructure is absolutely necessary for the railroads. The nation will benefit from better facilities thanks to this clearance. We are actively working to prevent Delhi from being negatively impacted by modern projects, and we have made it mandatory to plant 10x as many trees to make up for any trees lost, according to the statement.
